Camper Program Volunteering

.

Thank you for your interest in empowering campers with serious medical conditions!  As a volunteer or summer staff member with camper programs, you are the engine that keeps Camp Korey running.  Read on to find out where you fit in…

Update: We are currently no longer accepting applications for summer program volunteers, but look out for more program volunteer opportunities this fall!

Volunteer Cabin Counselor – (“Residential Volunteer”) Maybe you already have your dream job, but can afford to take a week (or more) off during the summer. Spend a week at Camp Korey as a cabin counselor! Be that big brother or big sister you’ve always wanted to be… you’ll have the opportunity to help a camper catch her first fish, or give a camper the encouragement he needs to tackle the high ropes course.

♥ Returning Volunteers – If you have spent time volunteering at Camp Korey as a residential volunteer, dream team volunteer, medical volunteer or program volunteer, we would LOVE to have you back this summer! Please complete our quick and easy update form.

Volunteer Medical Staff -  Have you ever wished that you could see your patients outside of a medical setting? This is your opportunity! Camp Korey volunteer doctors and nurses care for the health needs of our campers, and can also join in camp activities.  When you volunteer for one or several weeks, you may witness your campers  performing stand up comedy at stage night, or you might join in Silly Olympics—the biggest food fight west of the Mississippi!!

Day-Only Volunteers – Do you love working magic behind the scenes? At Camp Korey we LOVE our kitchen volunteers and program helpers, who help keep things running smoothly during each week of camp.

A Note About Volunteering with Camper Programs

.

Volunteering with Camper Programs means direct participation with our campers during weeklong summer sessions, year-round programs, special camper events, and more.  It means being at the heart of providing therapeutic recreation services (fun!), but it is also a significant commitment of time and training.  Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our campers, so there is paperwork and a background check required of all Camper Programs volunteers.

Ready to jump in?  Here are important things to know:

Roles – Camper Program Volunteers may act as cabin counselors, program volunteers (ropes course, equestrian program, music), kitchen staff, medical volunteers, lifeguards, or support staff.

.

Deadlines – Paid Summer Staff Applications are due on April 15th of each year.  Application deadlines for Volunteer Summer Staff are typically rolling, but the necessary medical paperwork is required of all summer staff by June 25.

.

Commitments – Residential Volunteers (that includes paid and volunteer staff) make a full week’s commitment.  This helps give our campers the best experience possible, as they spend their full week getting comfortable with their counselors and having a wonderful, safe adventure.  Day-Only and Medical Volunteers typically work in shifts.

.

Training – Required training depends upon the various Camper Programs positions.  You will receive information training and medical requirements upon accepted application.
