At Camp Korey we have an amazing volunteer medical team comprised of doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists.
Tav Huffman is one of our wonderful registered nurses and a Camp Korey volunteer since 2013. Commuting all the way from Portland, Tav dedicates her time for two weeks during the summer and a Family Weekend — over 250 hours of service! Prior to learning about Camp Korey, Tav spent a few years working at other SeriousFun Camps such as The Painted Turtle and Roundup River Ranch. Tav is dedicated to serving the SeriousFun mission and that of camps like Camp Korey.
Tav loves sharing the experience with the kids as they grow – coming out of their comfort zone during activities such as performing on Stage Night or facing their fears on the ropes course. She enjoys watching connections form between family members going through similar experiences, challenges, and frustrations: “Every member of the family is able to make connections to other families and think, hey, I’m not the only one!” For Tav, seeing the campers face challenges that give them ‘strength and resilience’ for their futures is an important part of her volunteer experience. Because of volunteers like Tav, the campers have the opportunity for joy, growth and healing in a safe environment where they can disconnect from their medical condition and just have fun.
