*********2017 SUMMER CAMP UPDATE**************************

We are reaching out to update you on our summer 2017 schedule. Over the last few days, Camp Korey leadership and the board of directors have been considering the long-term vision for Camp Korey. After a careful look at our large-scale projects and our current ambitious construction schedule, we’ve made the decision to postpone our week-long summer residential camps and family weekends for this Summer 2017. We recognize the efforts that you put into completing your applications, and acknowledge how frustrating this news may be. This was not a decision easily made; our goal has always been to provide campers with a safe, fun, and enriching summer experience.

In place of our summer residential camps and family weekends, we will be hosting a variety of events to provide parents and kids with the opportunity to visit the new Camp Korey before it’s completed.  It will be a chance to meet our staff and volunteers, play games, tour the property, and plan for a full-time residential camp next year.  Our program staff will also be leading camper families on ‘Family Day Excursions’ to local destinations throughout the region so our staff and volunteers stay engaged with kids and keep our Camp Korey friendships going strong. We have several confirmed events, such as:

  • YMCA Challenge Course: June 23rd and July 21st
  • Woodland Park Zoo: May 27, 2017 and July 20, 2017
  • Mariners Games: July 26 and September 22
  • Outdoors for All Cycling & Kayaking: May 14th, June 18th, and August 5th

In addition, we do plan on having a full summer schedule, and we are in the process of setting up new adventures each week. We will be sending out more information soon.

With this additional time we hope to build up our property, create new and exciting program areas, and continue serving our campers in any way we can.

We encourage you to call or email us anytime to discuss more about this decision, and to keep you updated with our new summer schedule. We appreciate your continued support and hope that we will move forward into the future as a team.

*******************************************************************
We are so excited to announce Camp Korey’s Summer 2017 Program Calendar! We want to give a big thanks to all of our families, volunteers and community members who have been so patient with us this last month.
This year, Camp Korey will be offering six weeks of summer camp followed by two three-day family camps starting July 10th. It is our goal to continue to serve our full spectrum of campers. To that end we are making every session a ‘general session’, where we will be considering all applicants both new and returning. We have also included some session-specific road markers for our larger condition groups. As we are still in the process of building out our bed capacity at camp, it is our hope to again serve sixty and later over one hundred campers a week in the years to come. This year, much like our first year at Carnation Farm, we will be capping our capacity at a little over thirty campers per week.
The schedule you see below reflects our commitment to continue serving our families and condition groups that we have served these past years. The medical and behavioral needs of each session will be kept in ratio with our recruited support that week. We think it is important to acknowledge that our overall capacity to serve as many campers has been temporarily reduced as part of our transition to our new home in Mt. Vernon, WA. Our pledge to you is to make sure that our program this year is the best-fit for your child and welcome you to join us on our journey as we work to expand camp to serve more children each and every year.

Thank You,
Camp Korey Team

GENERAL FAQ:

We are aware that some families are having issues with the enrollment process for their camper. Please take the following steps to begin the enrollment process:

  1. click on the link for “New Camper Registration”.
  2. Please note that we are using a new database. Therefore, all families should use the “New Camper Registration” link regardless of whether their camper is new or returning.
  3. From there, you can complete the “New Family Enrollment” page and follow the steps to complete the camper application.
  4. After completing the first enrollment page, you will receive an email with your password to the Parent Dashboard, which you may change by going to “My Account”.
  5. Try to use a personal email instead of a work email account. If you do not receive the automatic email with your password, please check your spam folder.
  6. If you have any questions, please contact camperrecruiter@campkorey.org.

What does ‘General Session’ Mean?
‘General Session’ indicates that we will be considering all applicants for the session. All conditions groups we have served we will do our best to again serve this year. We encourage your family to apply to the sessions that work best with your family’s summer plans this year.
Is it possible that my camper may not be accepted this summer, even though they have been to camp before?
As we continue to build out our camp and our property, it is our plan to serve more campers than ever before. For this year, the number of available placements is less than in previous years. Applications will be considered as placements remain available and based on the available support that week.
What happens if my camper is not placed this summer?
If your camper is not placed this year due to available placements, they will be offered an opportunity for early placement next year.
Can I come see the site?
Absolutely! Please reach out to us and we will coordinate a time for you to come to camp and see our new home!
